Tesla CEO Elon Musk this week has been vocal in his promotion of the long-anticipated Cybertruck on social media. The electric vehicle maker has yet to announce final pricing and specs for the sci-fi inspired, trapezoidal pickup, which it first revealed in November of 2019. In a company-wide email, Musk expressed worry about the precision of manufacturing the vehicle, due to the distinct straight edges which any discrepancies show up "like a sore thumb". The SEC filing of the second quarter further noted that the Texas plant was making preparations for the Cybertruck, with the expectation of its initial deliveries for this year, though the exact date of a mass production has yet to be said. To further increase excitement for the vehicle, Musk on Wednesday tweeted an image of what seems to be the production-candidate Cybertruck, which helps test the quality of production systems and vehicle assembly lines. To put to rest the eagerness for details of the vehicle, Musk reassured that once the company is set with the specs, pricing and delivery date, they will make the announcement. His email to the company, which was shared with CNBC and previously published by Electrek, expresses his concern with the precision of the vehicle's parts, and pointing out that even Lego and soda cans are able to meet the sub 10 micron accuracy requirement. The email may have been a factor in the slight dip in Tesla's shares on Thursday morning.
