Nadella Surprises OpenAI Event With Invitation to Azure Cloud

At OpenAI's event in San Francisco, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, communicated to the audience that Microsoft's cloud is the optimal environment to build in. He stated that it is Microsoft's focal point to create the finest system possible in order for developers to construct the most excellent models. Nadella also mentioned that Microsoft will provide the enterprise tier of the GitHub Copilot coding assistant to the developers present. At Monday's OpenAI developer conference, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made a surprise appearance with a message: "Let's create together!" He spoke with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman about how Microsoft has invested $13 billion into OpenAI and is using its Azure cloud infrastructure to draw more developers away from competitors like Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. Nadella explained to the crowd of 900 that Azure has become a key growth engine for the company, helping to restore its image among developers. OpenAI announced a new, more powerful GPT-4 Turbo model, as well as a reduction of fees for their programming tools. Nadella further highlighted the Azure Marketplace, which is intended to help developers get to market quickly. To further incentivize developers to use Azure, Microsoft gave away the enterprise version of GitHub Copilot to all attendees. Nadella sees AI as a tool to empower people and organizations, and Altman is excited for the pair to work toward the future of artificial general intelligence (AGI). The partnership is also beneficial economically, as both companies will benefit from successful sales.
