Marc Benioff declared Denise Dresser, a longtime Salesforce executive, to take the place of Lidiane Jones as the new CEO of Slack. This is the third CEO to be assigned to the Salesforce wing since it was taken over by the company in 2020. Jones was reported this month to be appointed as the new CEO of the online dating service Bumble, replacing Whitney Wolfe Herd in 2024.
Marc Benioff, Salesforce co-founder and chief executive, announced Monday the appointment of Denise Dresser as Slack's third CEO since Salesforce's acquisition of the company in 2020. Dresser, who has been a Salesforce executive for over 12 years and currently holds the title of president of accelerated industries, has assumed the role as of immediately, a Salesforce spokesperson told CNBC. Her predecessor, Lidiane Jones, left to accept the role of chief executive at dating app Bumble, commencing Jan. 2, while Jones will stay on through the year to assist Dresser with the transition. Dresser expressed her appreciation for both Benioff and Jones in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday. Benioff likewise praised Dresser's commitment to their values and customers in his announcement on X. She is a graduate of University of Massachusetts Amherst and has previously worked at Oracle and Arthur Andersen. The deal for Slack amounted to $27.7 billion and the subsequent year has seen numerous senior Salesforce executives depart, including co-CEO Bret Taylor and Slack founder Stewart Butterfield, whose departures occurred within two weeks of each other in December 2022.
