Investors were keeping a close eye on midday movements in the stock market. Novo Nordisk experienced a 5.5% surge, with Eli Lilly adding 3.8%. Conversely, DaVita and Fresenius Medical Care plummeted 18.4% and 19.6%, respectively. Baxter International also experienced a 9% decrease. Exxon Mobil shares declined more than 4%, following their announcement of the acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources for a whopping $59.5 billion in all-stock, at a rate of $253 per share. Pioneer shares experienced a rise of 1%. Humana shares saw a dip of 2% due to the news of Bruce Broussard's departure, with Jim Rechtin of Envision Healthcare taking his place in the latter half of 2024. Amgen stock grew by 3.5%, after an upgrade from Leerink, Shoals Technologies was upgraded to a buy by Goldman Sachs, which raised their stock by 6.3% and Ally Financial decremented by 3.6%, following their CEO Jeffrey Brown's announcement to step down, effective January 31, 2024. Walgreens Boots Alliance shares spiked 1% following the appointment of Cigna executive Tim Wentworth as CEO. Coherent stock rocketed up 5.8% due to a $1 billion investment from Japan, affirmed by B. Riley's upgrade to Buy. Plug Power was up 3.4% due to a projected revenue forecast of $6 billion by 2027. Finally, Take-Two Interactive Software shares rose 1.2% after being upgraded to outperform from market perform by Raymond James.
