Apple has made iOS 17 available for iPhones, representing their most extensive software update this year. Those who own iPhones made in 2018 or afterwards are eligible for the update. In addition to a number of enhancements, the latest version has significant upgrades to popular apps like Phone, Messages and Safari. Apple launched iOS 17 on Monday, the biggest software update of the year for iPhones from 2018 and later. You don't need to buy a new phone for access to the latest software each year - the update can be downloaded to your existing phone. This update offers a lot of improvements to familiar apps such as Phone, Messages and Safari. Here are some of the key features to be aware of: Reach out to other users. One of the major updates in iOS 17 will be the new capability that allows iPhone users to pick an image and font that will modify how they appear when making phone calls to other iPhone owners. A contact poster can now be personalised by users in a similar way to customizing the lock screen.Autocorrect has been improved in Apple products with the implementation of a transformer-based language model, which is similar to the technology used in ChatGPT. Furthermore, people can use autocorrect to automatically complete their sentences by tapping the space bar if there is a suggestion. Users of more recent iPhones have access to Roadside Assistance through satellite. This service, known as SOS, only works on the iPhone 14 from last year and the iPhone 15 from this year. Furthermore, Apple has revamped their iMessage interface. There is now a menu on the left-hand side of the screen housing hidden applications such as stickers and the camera, instead of being placed above the keyboard. Furthermore, Messages can now automatically transcribe short audio messages, and searching for old texts has been much improved. Stickers have been available on iPhone for some time now, but Apple are taking them to the next level in iOS 17 by introducing a specially developed product for iMessage. This new "experience" utilizes machine learning to create stickers based on images, such as a photo of your cat. In addition, Check In offers 'got home safe' notifications to friends and family when you tap a button after a set time period. Just say the assistant's name to begin a request. Active dock mode. iPhones placed on a MagSafe dock in a horizontal orientation have been transformed into a type of dashboard that displays the time, your photos, upcoming calendar events, Widget info, and even a "Live Activity" such as a tracking status for your Uber Eats delivery.Offline mapping. Apple Maps can now have sections saved offline in case you don't have access to the internet, such as when driving to an area where the signal is weak. Having your local metropolitan area stored in your phone should also speed up and enhance your routing.Eliminate the "hey." Just use "Siri." It's more streamlined. Apple's voice assistant no longer requires users to start their request with "hey Siri." You can now simply say the assistant's name to initiate a request. When users receive a call, they can opt for it to go straight to voicemail right from the iPhone's lock screen. Messaged voicemails are transcribed in real time, allowing the user to decide if they are worth picking up. For those that use both Apple's Mail and Safari, a handy two-factor authentication feature has been implemented; log-in codes sent to email will automatically appear and codes sent via text message are deleted when they have been used. Security of private browsing can be enhanced with the addition of a password and Face ID for unlocking. Lastly, exchanging contact information with other iPhone users can be as easy as bumping two devices together, thanks to Apple's AirDrop. Go to the Settings app on your iPhone. Select "General" and then choose "Software Update." You may have the option to pick between iOS 17 or a beta version when doing this, if you have experimented with pre-release software. Finally, your device will restart once the update is complete.
