Amazon Initiates Drone Delivery of Medications in Texas

Those residing in College Station, Texas, may now utilize Amazon Pharmacy for the delivery of certain prescription medicines via drone. Customers are eligible to select from over 500 medications and will be provided with drone delivery service no charge. The goods are promised to be at the customers' doorsteps in an hour or less. Customers in College Station, Texas, now have an option to have their medication from Amazon Pharmacy brought to them by drone, the company declared Wednesday in a blog post. Customers can order more than 500 medications - including treatment for conditions like asthma and the flu - and the delivery will take no longer than 60 minutes, with no extra cost. Amazon's stocks dropped 1% on Wednesday. Launched in 2020 after Amazon purchased PillPack in 2018, Amazon Pharmacy is a full-service pharmacy. To draw in customers, Amazon has provided certain benefits and incentives for Prime members this year. The drones used for the deliveries are equipped with cameras to detect any living beings and objects in the delivery area. After verifying that the path ahead is clear, the drone will proceed to drop the package with the medication. However, if any obstacles are found, the drone will return to the fulfillment center to make another try later. In order to be eligible for drone delivery, customers will need to register for Prime Air and finish a yard survey. Despite the executive changes that occurred in August, Amazon has already accomplished hundreds of house item deliveries to customers located in College Station since the end of last year.
