Amazon is adding value to its Prime membership program by offering discounted One Medical subscriptions. Prime members will be able to subscribe to One Medical for just $9 a month, or for an annual cost of $99. In July 2022, Amazon acquired One Medical for an estimated $3.9 billion.
Amazon is reinforcing its Prime subscription plan with the inclusion of a new advantage that offers subscribers discounted access to One Medical memberships. On Wednesday, the tech giant announced that Prime members are eligible to sign up for One Medical at a monthly rate of $9 or a yearly cost of $99, compared to its standard price tag of $16.59 monthly and $199 annually. Five additional members can join the same arrangement for only $6 each, the company commented.In July 2022, Amazon completed the acquisition of the primary health care company One Medical for almost $3.9 billion. This network of primary care practices is mainly located around larger cities in the United States and enables users to connect with their doctor through the app or book virtual or in-person visits at a physical location.As stated by Neil Lindsay, Amazon's Senior Vice President of Health, "when it is easier for people to access the health care they need, they make greater efforts to take care of their health, and as a result obtain better health outcomes."Since its launch in 2005, the Prime membership service continues to grow and now has over 200 million subscribers worldwide. This yearly program offers two-days shipping, access to movies and TV shows, and other advantages for $139.In its attempt to appeal to more Prime customers and strengthen its relationship with purchasers in the health care industry, Amazon keeps adding a wide range of benefits to its subscription service. In 2018, PillPack was acquired for approximately $750 million, however in August 2022, the company put an end to Amazon Care. Despite disbanding the joint venture Haven in 2021, which aimed to disrupt health care, it extended its virtual clinic service and also operates an online pharmacy.
